Dr. Nigus Asefa
Dr. Nigus Asefa is a postdoctoral researcher at the National
Institute on Aging in the United States, focusing on aging

"Genetics and Epidemiology of Glaucoma and Myopia." To

Dr. Getachew Kassa earned his PhD in Reproductive Health, a Master of Science, and a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Dr. Kassa is a 2018 Impact Evaluation Fellow of the East Africa
Social Science Translation (EASST) Collaborative at the University of California, Berkeley; a
2021 Contextualizing Impact Evaluation Pedagogy in Africa (CIPA) Fellow; a 2019 Research
Transparency and Reproducibility Fellow; and a 2018 Policy Communication Fellow. Dr. Kassa
completed postdoctoral research at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, focusing on

analysis, and data science. Holding a PhD in Epidemiology, he has taught graduate-level
courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods. He has extensive data analytics
and AI/ML training and is proficient in tools such as spreadsheets, SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, R,
Python, and SQL. Dr. Cherkos has advanced expertise in survey and longitudinal analysis for

Dr. Hayelom Kebede Mekonen is an accomplished academician and researcher with a robust

Developmental Biology (Embryology) from Maastricht University, The Netherlands, an M.Sc. in Human

Dr. Girmay Desalegn Tarekegn is an experienced biomedical researcher and educator with over
a decade of expertise in immunology and vaccine development for infectious diseases. He

solutions to complex global health challenges. Dr. Tarekegn earned his PhD in Immunology from
Hannover Medical School, Germany, and has held key academic and research leadership roles
at prestigious institutions, including Jimma University and Mekelle University in Ethiopia, and the
Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) at the University of Maryland, USA.
